Tremont Wants Insurers' Suit Over Madoff Fraud Tossed

Law360, Wilmington (September 13, 2012, 9:53 PM EDT) -- Tremont Partners Inc., which ran the second-largest feeder fund in Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme, lobbied a Delaware judge Thursday to toss a suit from three insurers, including Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., over life insurance investment losses incurred in the epic fraud.

In December, MetLife, General American Life Insurance Co. and New England Life Insurance Co. sued Tremont and its directors, claiming the defendants failed to monitor and manage the investments that were funneled into Madoff's $65 billion scheme.
