Broke Qimonda Seeks Stay On Altis Suit Over Shared IP's Sale

Law360, New York (September 13, 2012, 8:11 PM EDT) -- Semiconductor producer Qimonda AG on Wednesday urged a Virginia bankruptcy court to call a halt to a contract suit recently brought by rival semiconductor maker Altis Semiconductor alleging that Qimonda unlawfully sold jointly owned intellectual property rights without permission.

Qimonda asked the bankruptcy court to extend the automatic stay granted to the bankrupt company while in Chapter 15 proceedings in the U.S. and insolvency proceedings in Germany, saying that Altis violated bankruptcy rules by filing a competing breach-of-contract suit in California federal court.
