Law360, New York (September 13, 2012, 9:18 PM EDT) -- An Alabama bankruptcy judge declined to set a deadline at a Thursday hearing for debt-ridden Jefferson County's Chapter 9 bankruptcy plan, postponing a request from the county's creditors.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Thomas Bennett declined to set the deadline for Jefferson County's submission of a Chapter 9 plan, ordering a general continuance of creditor requests to set a deadline in the case, according to a source familiar with the matter.
