Rothstein Pal Gets 3 Years For Campaign Fund Fraud

Law360, New York (September 14, 2012, 5:52 PM EDT) -- A Florida federal judge on Friday sentenced a former partner of convicted Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein's defunct law firm to three years in prison for illegally funneling campaign money to John McCain's 2008 presidential election campaign.

U.S. District Judge James Cohn also ordered Steven N. Lippman to pay $179,000 in restitution and a fine of $15,000, his attorney Bruce A. Zimet confirmed to Law360. Lippman had faced up to five years in prison after pleading guilty May 11 to a charge of conspiracy to violate the...
