In 1st AIA Review, Garmin Wants Speed-Warning Patent Axed

Law360, New York (September 17, 2012, 5:25 PM EDT) -- Garmin International Inc. on Sunday became the first company to seek an inter partes review of a patent under the new America Invents Act system, seeking to invalidate a Cuozzo Speed Technologies LLC patent for a navigation system that gives drivers speed limit warnings.

Garmin, a maker of GPS navigation devices, claims in its petition for the review that Cuozzo's patent was anticipated or obvious in view of prior art, challenging patent claims Cuozzo filed in July against Garmin and major automakers, including General Motors Corp....
