Cooley Guides BASF In $1B Purchase Of Agricultural Co.

Law360, New York (September 20, 2012, 5:07 PM EDT) -- German chemical conglomerate BASF SE has agreed to acquire an Iowa-based agricultural products company from Minnesota middle-market private equity firm Norwest Equity Partners for more than $1 billion, BASF said Thursday.

BASF is acquiring Becker Underwood, an agricultural technology firm that provides biological seed treatment and crop protection products. The Ames, Iowa-based company had been a portfolio company of Norwest since 2004, according to the private equity firm.
