Judge Drills DOE With $48.6M Ruling

Law360, New York (October 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a blow to the U.S. Department of Energy, a federal judge has handed Entergy Corp. a whopping $48.6 million in damages stemming from a dispute over the disposal of spent nuclear reactor fuel from a power plant.

Judge Charles Lettow punished the federal government for violating its utility contract with the energy giant on Tuesday, ruling that the DOE had failed to “fulfill its obligations” regarding Entergy's Arkansas Nuclear One power plant.
