NRC To Boost Oversight At Kansas Nuclear Plant

Law360, New York (September 21, 2012, 6:34 PM EDT) -- The Nuclear Regulatory Commission said Friday it would step up oversight of the Wolf Creek nuclear power plant in Kansas after finding that a power system failure at the plant in January carried “substantial” safety risks.

The NRC slapped the plant’s operators with a “yellow” finding due to the incident, meaning the plant will face increased inspections and will move onto an NRC watch list that includes six other nuclear units with degraded performance.
