New FDA Team Seeks To Spur Antibiotics Innovation

Law360, New York (September 24, 2012, 6:12 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday announced the creation of a new task force to look at incentives for drug companies to develop new antibiotics to battle increasingly drug-resistant pathogens, and to write guidelines required by the new user fee law.

The Antibacterial Drug Development Task Force, made up of 19 FDA scientists and clinicians, will be responsible for writing guidelines with the goal of getting new antibiotics onto the market, the FDA said.
