U.S., EU Gap Widens On Market Dominance

Law360, New York (October 22, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- With European antitrust regulators and their American counterparts reaching vastly separate conclusions on several competitive issues recently, companies such as Microsoft Corp. and Intel Corp. have seen conduct deemed OK in the U.S. punished or more closely investigated in the EU. Companies will continue to do so as long as fundamental differences in the countries' market intervention philosophies remain, experts say.

Intel is currently collecting evidence to prove to the European Commission that complaints alleging it tried to elbow its smaller competitor Advanced Micro Devices Inc....
