UK Urged To Probe Toxic Dumping In Ivory Coast

Law360, New York (September 25, 2012, 6:14 PM EDT) -- Amnesty International and Greenpeace Netherlands urged the British government Tuesday to investigate possible criminal charges against a multinational company they say sickened more than 100,000 people when it dumped toxic waste on the shores of the Ivory Coast.

The organizations released the results of their three-year study into the effects of Trafigura Beheer BV's alleged toxic dumping in the port city of Abidjan in the West African state, detailing the subsequent “medical, political and environmental disaster” for which it says various governments are legally responsible....
