Lockheed Misses Chance To Add Evidence To Sludge Suit

Law360, New York (September 26, 2012, 7:21 PM EDT) -- Lockheed Martin Corp. lost its bid Wednesday to add evidence to its defense against claims it allowed toxic sludge to seep from one of its refineries into groundwater in the U.S. Virgin Islands, with a federal judge ruling the company waited too long to act.

Lockheed had sought to introduce a report that says groundwater pollution problems at its St. Croix alumina and oil refinery began well before the company assumed ownership, but the judge said the late amendment would unfairly delay litigation.
