FDA To Hold Hearing On Regulations On Salt In Food

Law360, New York (October 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is planning public hearing on whether it should revise its current rules for salt and sodium, the agency said in an announcement published in the Federal Register Tuesday.

The hearing will consider a citizen petition field by the Center for Science in the Public Interest that asks the FDA to change the regulatory status of salt, revise the upper limits on the amount of salt in processed foods and change labeling requirements.
