House Rep. Urges USTR To Make TPP Talks More Transparent

Law360, New York (September 27, 2012, 7:10 PM EDT) -- Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., on Monday pushed U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk to allow lawmakers greater access to the ongoing Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations amid growing concerns over the planned pact's intellectual property provisions.

Lofgren publicly released a Sept. 20 letter to the trade rep that said she was worried about the lack of transparency in the trade talks, especially in light of leaked documents that disclosed certain portions of the TPP's planned IP enforcement provisions.
