Allen & Overy Cuts Ties With India's Trilegal

Law360, New York (September 28, 2012, 4:10 PM EDT) -- Allen & Overy LLP is ending its alliance with Indian law firm Trilegal by ending their five-year referral agreement, the firms announced in a statement Thursday, citing the lack of progress toward foreign firms being allowed to open offices in India.

Allen & Overy says the original agreement was intended to take advantage of the anticipated opening of the Indian legal market to foreign lawyers. In July, the Supreme Court of India said foreign lawyers could visit the country for temporary periods to provide legal advice...
