Kirk Says US-Panama Free-Trade Pact To Take Effect Soon

Law360, New York (September 28, 2012, 8:36 PM EDT) -- A free-trade agreement between the U.S. and Panama that was approved by both countries back in 2007 and signed into law by by President Barack Obama last year will be taking effect “very soon,” U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said Friday.

The U.S.-Panama pact is the last of three trade deals President Obama signed into law in October 2011 to go into force. A trade deal between the U.S. and Colombia went into effect in May, while a deal with South Korea went into full force...
