Pa. High Court Keeps County Judge Off The Bench

Law360, Philadelphia (October 1, 2012, 4:57 PM EDT) -- The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Friday upheld a disciplinary court's ruling that removed a Lehigh County Magisterial District Court judge from office in 2010 for chronic absenteeism and improper handling of cases in her court.

The six justices who heard the appeal unanimously concluded that Judge MaryEsther S. Merlo's actions, which also included habitual tardiness when hearing truancy court cases and inappropriate behavior while on the bench, sullied the reputation of her judicial office.
