PTO To Take Second Look At NeoMedia Patent

Law360 (October 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- NeoMedia Technologies Inc.’s patent relating to automatic access of a remote computer over a network has been hit with a patent re-examination, after the Electronic Frontier Foundation convinced the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that there was enough prior art to call the patent into question.

The EFF, a patent reform group, said Tuesday that the PTO had granted the motion for reexam of NeoMedia’s patent. NeoMedia had been threatening to litigate the patent against smaller info-aggregating companies such as ScanBuy, AirClic Inc. and LScan Technologies....
