US Fines British Airways Over Ads, Baggage Policy

Law360, New York (October 1, 2012, 3:44 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation has fined British Airways up to $250,000 for violating rules on full-fare advertising as well as an international treaty on reimbursements for mishandled baggage, the agency said Monday.

British Airways will pay $125,000 within 15 days for failing to fully disclose in advertising all taxes and fees to which its fares would be subject and failing to appropriately compensate travelers for the loss, damage or theft of checked baggage in accordance with international agreements, the DOT said.
