Zimmer Gets FDA Warning Letter Over Implant Manufacturing

Law360, Chicago (October 2, 2012, 3:13 PM EDT) -- Orthopedic implant maker Zimmer Holdings Inc. revealed Monday that it had received a warning letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration citing concerns over the company's manufacturing and testing processes at a Puerto Rico facility, saying it could face fines or other additional FDA action.

The letter, dated Sept. 19, followed an inspection of Zimmer's manufacturing facility in Ponce, Puerto Rico, in June and concerned processes related to its Trilogy Acetabular System hip implant products, the company said in a filing with the U.S. Securities...
