Congressman Hammers NRC Over Work Environment Claims

Law360, New York (October 2, 2012, 9:43 PM EDT) -- Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., pressed the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Tuesday to examine allegations of employee intimidation and retaliation at its largest regional office, saying the commission had ignored his previous requests for a probe.

In a biting letter, Markey accused the NRC and its inspector general of refusing to fully investigate whistleblower claims that a Region IV officer suppressed important safety oversight and berated staff who raised safety concerns.
