No Big US Firm Mergers On The Horizon, Experts Say

Law360, New York (October 2, 2012, 9:25 PM EDT) -- Despite a recent uptick in small mergers among U.S.-based law firms, a tough economy has made it unlikely that top law firms would risk their financial stability in the coming months by pursuing major U.S. mergers like Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP’s 2011 deal, experts said Tuesday.

Altman Weil reported Monday that 14 mergers and acquisitions took place among law firms in the third quarter of 2012 — up from 11 the previous quarter — four of which were mergers and 10 of which were acquisitions...
