Rocklands Seeks To Start Coal Mine In Australian Basin

Law360, New York (October 3, 2012, 9:45 PM EDT) -- Australian coal developer Rocklands Richfield Ltd. on Wednesday submitted a preliminary environmental assessment and project proposal to build a coking and thermal coal mine on the nearly 8,000-acre license it holds in Queensland's coal-rich Bowen Basin.

Rocklands is looking to establish an open-cut pit that could potentially be expanded into an underground mine, depending on future feasibility studies, the upstream coal company said in a referral it made to the Australian Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.
