ACA, Medicaid Mark Policy Contrast Between Obama, Romney

Law360, New York (October 3, 2012, 12:00 AM EDT) -- President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney debated many of the finer points of health care policy at the first presidential showdown Wednesday, touching on the Affordable Care Act's cost-reduction board, Medicaid block grants and the role of private insurers in the future of Medicare.

Obama defended the Independent Payment Advisory Board, which was created by the ACA to keep down Medicare spending growth and has drawn the opposition of lawmakers of both parties and many major health care industry groups.
