Sanofi Dismissal Affirmed In Generic Ambien Liability Suit

Law360, Philadelphia (October 3, 2012, 4:47 PM EDT) -- A Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas administrative judge Monday affirmed his earlier decision to toss product liability claims against Sanofi-Aventis US LLC stemming from use of a generic version of Ambien, finding that Washington state law properly applied in the case.

Judge Allan Tereshko, the supervising judge of the court’s civil division, ruled that Sanofi could not be responsible for injuries that plaintiff Stephen Madden suffered while allegedly sleep-driving after consuming of a generic version of the company's anti-insomnia drug.
