Fed. Circ. Tells Designer To Forget 'Paris' Trademark

Law360, New York (October 4, 2012, 3:10 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit on Thursday snuffed a designer's attempt to register a trademark including the word "Paris," saying it created an association with the French fashion hub when the products that would carry the logo are not made or designed there.

A three judge panel found against an appeal from Miracle Tuesday LLC, a Miami-based designer of fashion goods like handbags, wallets and sunglasses, which challenged the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's decision to deny the company's application to register its "JPK Paris 75" logo....
