TJX Data Breach Double The Inititial Estimate: Suit

Law360, New York (October 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A coalition of financial institutions suing retailer TJX Cos. over a massive security breach have claimed that approximately 94 million customer accounts have been affected, more than double previous estimates.

In court documents filed this week, the plaintiffs cited depositions taken from Visa and MasterCard officials, who said that approximately 65 million Visa account numbers and some 29 million MasterCard account numbers were affected, a far higher number than TJX had originally suggested.
