Lawmakers Ask DEA For Clearer Policies On Pharmacy Supplies

Law360, New York (October 5, 2012, 5:31 PM EDT) -- Thirteen congressmen this week asked the Drug Enforcement Administration to clarify its policies to address pharmacies struggling to get access to the right drugs, an effort applauded Thursday by the National Community Pharmacists Association.

The lawmakers, 11 Republicans and two Democrats, said many small pharmacies have had trouble getting vital controlled substances because the DEA had shut down or severely restricted their wholesalers. They echoed concerns, recently raised by the NCPA, that the DEA's policies are conflicting and confusing.
