Hospitals Cheer Electronic Transfers Rule

Law360, New York (October 5, 2012, 4:38 PM EDT) -- The American Hospital Association on Wednesday threw its support behind a new federal rule laying out best practices for electronic fund transfers from insurers, saying it would help hospitals save money but urging Medicare to issue further guidance and educational documents to clarify the rule's technical parts.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released the operating rule in August. It's the third rule in a series aimed at reducing billing paperwork at physicians' offices and hospitals by setting standards for electronic payments from insurers....
