GenOn Settles Conemaugh Plant Infractions With Pa.

Law360, Philadelphia (October 10, 2012, 5:15 PM EDT) -- GenOn Northeast Management Co. has agreed to pay $500,000 in fines and undertake a host of improvements to settle allegations the company routinely violated Pennsylvania environmental laws at the company’s Conemaugh coal-fired power plant.

The consent decree puts to rest allegations that the company’s Conemaugh Generating Station was the source of oil and coal discharges and contaminated groundwater and that the plant discharged water treatment chemicals directly into the Conemaugh River.
