US Urges Fed. Circ. To Keep 'Slip-On' Duties On Ugg Boots

Law360, New York (October 9, 2012, 6:35 PM EDT) -- Federal government attorneys on Friday told the Federal Circuit that U.S. Customs and Border Protection did not improperly classify a line of Deckers Outdoor Corp.'s Ugg boots when the agency assessed duties on the popular footwear.

Responding to an appeal of a U.S. Court of International Trade ruling, the government said Customs had correctly characterized Ugg Classic Crochet model boots as slip-on footwear and could therefore impose duties based on that classification.
