Toyota Recalls 7M Vehicles Over Fire Hazard

Law360, New York (October 10, 2012, 12:20 PM EDT) -- Toyota Motor Corp. recalled more than 7.4 million vehicles worldwide Wednesday — including 2.5 million in the U.S. — over lubrication problems in power window controls that can lead to a fire, a continuation of the quality control issues that have plagued the company in recent years.

The driver's side power window master switch in the affected vehicles can feel sticky or "notchy," as the automaker put it, which may lead drivers to apply a lubricant to the switch. The lubricant could cause the switch assembly...
