AVX Will Pay $366M In Largest Superfund Settlement Ever

Law360, New York (October 10, 2012, 5:14 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice said Wednesday that AVX Corp. had agreed to a $366 million settlement over the electronics manufacturer's role in polluting the New Bedford Harbor Superfund site in Massachusetts — the largest single-site cash settlement in the history of the Superfund program.

The settlement follows an April enforcement order issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to AVX to implement ongoing cleanup work at the site in New Bedford, Mass.
