NIH Says Better Animal Studies Will Speed Drug Development

Law360, New York (October 11, 2012, 6:02 PM EDT) -- New guidelines aimed at improving the design and reporting of animal studies should help speed new drugs in the journey from basic research to human trials and market approval, the National Institutes of Health said Wednesday.

A workshop sponsored by the NIH's National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke released new recommendations, published in Thursday's issue of the journal Nature, that should make it easier for researchers to interpret and replicate animal trials.
