New EPA Report Again Ties Wyo. Water Pollution To Fracking

Law360, New York (October 11, 2012, 7:18 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Wednesday that the results of additional tests on seven gas wells in Pavillion, Wyo., reinforced its initial finding that groundwater in the area contains chemicals linked to hydraulic fracturing.

The EPA released a draft report on water quality in the area in December, saying it had detected synthetic chemicals such as glycols and alcohols in samples from deep monitoring wells — chemicals that are used in gas production and hydraulic fracturing fluids.
