Post-Meningitis Outbreak: Questioning FDA's Oversight

Law360, New York (October 15, 2012, 3:24 PM EDT) -- The number of confirmed cases of people sickened by fungal meningitis from tainted epidural steroid injections has risen to 91 in nine states, including seven deaths. Investigators from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state officials are continuing to investigate the New England Compounding Center, the compounding pharmacy that made the tainted injectables, as they try to determine the exact cause of contamination.
