Bayer Wins Avelox Infringement Case

Law360 (October 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Bayer AG scored a major victory Thursday when a federal judge ruled that a manufacturer's proposed generic version of the blockbuster antibiotic Avelox infringed two Bayer patents, forestalling the rival for over six more years.

Judge Sue L. Robinson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware held that Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.'s abbreviated new drug application for a generic version of Avelox, which is used to treat bacterial infections like bronchitis and pneumonia, may not be approved before March 4, 2014.
