EU Court Rejects U.S. Steel Suit Over Emissions Cap

Law360, New York (October 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A European court has nixed a lawsuit by U.S. Steel Corp.'s Slovak subsidiary that challenged a European Commission order requiring Slovakia to lower its cap on greenhouse gas emissions.

The European Court of First Instance ruled on Oct. 1 that U.S. Steel Kosice, Slovakia's largest steel producer, does not have the right to challenge the EC's decision regarding the Slovak government's national allocation plan on pollution limits for 2008 to 2012.
