US Steel Challenges Permit Requirements For Pa. Facility

Law360, Philadelphia (October 17, 2012, 3:44 PM EDT) -- U.S. Steel Corp. challenged a permit issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection approving discharges from an Allegheny County plant Tuesday, claiming that the permit imposed improper restrictions on the discharges along with undue monitoring and reporting obligations.

In filings with the state’s Environmental Hearing Board, the company targeted the requirements of a permit — issued in September and covering a five-year period — allowing its Clairton Plant to discharge effluents into two nearby waterways.
