Pa. Lawmaker Floats Plan For Drilling Safety Panel

Law360, New York (October 17, 2012, 5:14 PM EDT) -- Pennsylvania Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, R-Jefferson, introduced legislation Tuesday that would establish an advisory panel aimed at studying the potential public health impacts of natural gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale formation.

The proposed Marcellus Shale Health Advisory Panel would be chaired by the state secretary of health and include four members with two-year terms appointed by the president pro tempore, the Senate minority leader, the speaker of the House of Representatives and the House minority leader, according to the legislation.
