Distributor WESCO Pays $1B For Canadian Electrical Supplier

Law360, New York (October 17, 2012, 10:14 PM EDT) -- Multinational electronics distributor WESCO International Inc. has agreed to pay CA$1.14 billion (US$1.16 billion) to buy Canada-based EECOL Electric Corp. and its affiliates, which supply electrical materials to utilities and other energy companies, the buyers said Tuesday.

The deal expands WESCO's presence in Canada and increases its international footprint, particularly in South America, according to its Chairman and CEO John J. Engel.
