Lawmakers Urge Medicare Not To Expand Redundancy Cuts

Law360, New York (October 18, 2012, 7:35 PM EDT) -- Sixty members of Congress are joining health care providers in urging the Medicare agency to abandon plans to expand a program that cuts the reimbursement rates for redundant services, saying the cuts are senseless and will needlessly punish doctors.

In a letter sent to CMS on Oct. 11, 60 congressmen echoed the providers' appeal and asked the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to drop from its proposed payment system for 2013 plans to expand a program known as the multiple procedure payment reductions, or MPPR,...
