3M Wraps Up Patent Litigation Over Cathode Devices

Law360 (October 30, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Ending its patent crusade over lithium ion battery cathode technology, 3M Co. has settled its lawsuits with the remaining two defendants, CDW Corp. and Hitachi Koki USA Ltd.

The St. Paul, Minn.-based company said Tuesday that it had requested the dismissal of the suits after IT provider CDW and electronics retailer Hitachi confirmed that they import and sell batteries with 3M’s cathode materials only from manufacturers licensed by 3M under prior settlements.
