Perdue Farms Unit Targeted Over Water Pollutants

Law360, New York (October 24, 2012, 1:03 PM EDT) -- An environmental group brought suit Tuesday alleging a subsidiary of poultry farm giant Perdue Farms Inc. has been discharging pollutants into the waters around its Mount Vernon, Wash., facility, in violation of the Clean Water Act.

Waste Action Project claims that Draper Valley Farms has repeatedly discharged excess pollutants and metals from its Mount Vernon chicken slaughterhouse that have harmed aquatic species and wildlife and polluted the waters of Washington state, particularly Skagit River.
