Trustee Fights Dewey's Bid To Disband Ex-Partner Committee

Law360, New York (October 23, 2012, 10:23 PM EDT) -- A U.S. bankruptcy trustee on Tuesday objected to Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP's bid to disband what the firm says is an unnecessary official committee of former partners, saying that the firm's request has no statutory basis.

U.S. Trustee Tracy Hope Davis said that while Section 1102 of the Bankruptcy Code gives the court the power to appoint and modify committees, it does not "expressly empower the court to disband a committee appointed by the United States trustee."
