QVC Wins $2M For Space Heaters That Caused Fires

Law360, Philadelphia (October 24, 2012, 5:46 PM EDT) -- Television retail outlet QVC Inc. on Monday was awarded $2 million in damages in Pennsylvania federal court from the manufacturer of faulty space heaters that caused fires in customers’ homes in 2007 and 2008.

U.S. District Court Judge Thomas O’Neill Jr., ruling after a bench trial was held in the case in January, said that QVC had gone to reasonable lengths to prove that heaters manufactured by MLC America LLC were faulty before ordering a recall of thousands of the products in 2008.
