DOJ May Be On Brink Of Dropping Delphi Exec Probe

Law360 (October 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Rumors are swirling that the U.S. Department of Justice intends to drop its criminal investigation into a handful of former Delphi Corp. executives who stand accused of engaging in an accounting scheme that helped torpedo the supplier into bankruptcy.

On Wednesday, the Detroit News reported that the DOJ intended to abandon its probe into the activities of those who used to occupy the upper ranks at Delphi, a month after the agency's deputy fraud chief James McMahon allegedly recommended that prosecutors cease the investigation.
