Xstrata Plans Nov. 20 Investor Vote On $36B Glencore Deal

Law360, New York (October 25, 2012, 3:13 PM EDT) -- Anglo-Swiss miner Xstrata PLC has set a Nov. 20 date for a special shareholder meeting where its investors will vote on its proposed $36 billion merger with Glencore International PLC, the companies said Thursday, as the trouble-plagued tie-up's saga draws to a close.

Glencore shareholders will cast their ballots the same day, a full 10 months after the company first approached Xstrata with hopes of a merger that would spawn a $90 billion conglomerate combining the companies' mining, freight, storage and sales operations.
