Apple's Quick Look Infringed File Preview Patent, Suit Says

Law360, New York (October 25, 2012, 2:43 PM EDT) -- A lawsuit filed Thursday in Connecticut federal court claims Apple Inc. ripped off the idea for the Quick Look file preview feature in its Mac OS operating system from a patented method for navigating computer files stored in a directory.

Stamford, Conn.-based patent holder WhitServe LLC says Apple infringed its patent protecting U.S. Patent Number 7,921,139, titled "System for sequentially opening and displaying files in a directory” by selling computers that come equipped with Quick Look.
