Satellite Tracking Cos. Reach Licensing Deal In ITC Suit

Law360, New York (October 25, 2012, 6:09 PM EDT) -- A Virginia company that makes search-and-rescue tracking devices asked the U.S. International Trade Commission on Wednesday to drop an investigation of a rival company, saying the two sides had reached a licensing deal for a disputed satellite tracking patent.

BriarTek IP Inc. notified the ITC that it had reached a settlement agreement with Yellowbrick Tracking Ltd. to resolve claims that the tracking device manufacturer had infringed BriarTek's patent for a satellite-linked beacon. Details on the value of the licensing agreement were not disclosed Thursday.
